Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization

"And the best medicine is peace." – Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus

As an official side event to the Munich Security Conference 2025, we had the privilege of welcoming Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, to the Audimax of the Technical University of Munich.

In his keynote, Tedros highlighted the critical link between health and peace, reminding us that "there is no health without peace, and no peace without health." He reflected on the WHO’s mission to ensure that the highest attainable standard of health is a fundamental right for all, emphasizing the necessity of global cooperation to tackle health challenges.

More than ever, the pandemic has shown that when health is at risk, everything is at risk—and that "no one is safe unless everyone is safe." Dr. Tedros underscored the importance of international solidarity and multilateral action, illustrating how health diplomacy can bridge divides and contribute to global security.

A heartfelt thank you to Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus for his invaluable insights, Dr. Gerhard Kramer and Christoph Heusgen for their opening remarks, and to our moderator Katrin Kösler for guiding the discussion. We are also grateful to everyone who joined us for this inspiring evening!
